This from my good friend Kelleigh, who's been out on the playa for a coupla weeks:
totally pointless playa update. the weather has been hot, and there is dust on the playa(!), with mostly clear days and warm nights. the wind has been pretty constant, blowing from gerlach, down the playa (no idea which compass direction that is) with very pretty rain clouds that never reach the playa. it is odd to sit in 105 heat and watch it rain in the mountains.
oh, one really weird thing is that there are salad bowl sized
depressions in the playa, all over, and no one KNOWS how they came about. everyone SEEMS to know what caused them, but after hearing 20 different people give 20 totally rational, believable reasons, here is mine.
a giant came out to the playa while we were gone, drank too much beer, and peed about 500 times, all over the place, leaving these odd depressions everywhere.
